黑刺榴莲王中王 | Black thorn durian king

黑刺榴莲的原产国包括马来西亚、印度尼西亚、文莱,但黑刺榴莲产区主要集中在北马,本来只原产于槟城和吉打(三巴央区域),如今彭亨也有出产黑刺,其中马来西亚槟城的黑刺榴莲质量是好于马来西亚其它产地出产的榴莲。黑刺曾在2012榴莲冠军中获得冠军,被称“果王之王”,而夺冠的榴莲业主是来自Mr Leow,“果王之王”也因此让他在榴莲界享有名誉,35年前Leow先生在朋友的农场发现黑刺品种,他用黑刺荆棘嫁接了这棵树,而如今他最古老的黑刺榴莲树已有50多年的树龄,他的嫁接技术一流,只通过一棵甘榜榴莲树,就能嫁接出屡获殊荣的黑刺榴莲树。此后,黑刺榴莲也于马来西亚农业研发研究所注册为D200榴莲。

The country origin of black thorn durian includes Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei, however the black thorn durian production area is mainly in North Malaysia, which was originally only produced in Penang and Kedah (Sambayang region). Black thorn durian is produced from Pahang state as well. However, the quality of the Black thorn durian in Penang, Malaysia is better than the durian produced in other places in Malaysia. Black thorn durian had won the 2012 durian championship and was called the “King of Fruit King”. Mr. Leow was the proprietor of the durian who yielded the championship. The “King of Fruit King” did earn his name in the durian world. Mr Leow found a black thorn variety on a friend’s farm 35 years ago. He grafted this tree with black thorn, and now his oldest black thorn durian tree is more than 50 years old. His grafting technique is too good as the award-winning Black thorn durian tree can be grafted just through a “durian kampung tree”. Since then, Black thorn is registered as D200 Durian at the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute.

黑刺榴莲对产地的气候、和土质都有特殊要求,只有高原气候才适合种植黑刺榴莲。黑刺榴莲的产地面积不大,大概有150英亩,每年产量在200吨左右。由于产量少,所以就算是大马人民,都未必有机会尝到这种名贵榴莲品种。黑刺榴莲的外形呈较规则的球体状,但是最明显的特征是其部分刺尖的顶端是黑色的,所以此种榴莲被命名为黑刺榴莲。如果通过榴莲大小分辨榴莲,黑刺的平均尺寸会比貓山王大三分之一,大顆黑刺重達3至4公斤,然而就算是小型黑刺,里面的果肉是非常之多。

黑刺榴莲的果肉呈明亮黄橙色泽,而老树榴莲会更鲜艳、肉更厚,果肉入口的口感是奶油状,而有些人认为吃完猫山王再吃黑刺,会觉得黑刺果肉较干包,果肉味道甜中带苦,有些黑刺会有果香味。香港美食作家蔡澜曾堪称黑刺榴莲的难得之处是树龄不同,香味和口感都不一样,但是与猫山王相比,黑刺是最好吃的榴梿。”

Black thorn durian has special necessities on the climate and soil quality of the producing area. Only plateau climate is suitable for planting black thorn durian. Large Black thorn weighs 3 to 4 kilograms but even the small Black thorn would have very much flesh inside.

The flesh of the Black thorn durian is bright yellow-orange, while the old tree durian will be brighter and thicker. The taste of the flesh is creamy, and some people think that black thorn flesh is more dried if you eat Musang King afterward. The flesh taste sweet and bitter, and some have a fruity aroma. Some of them said the flesh with more ‘wrinkles’ could have the better taste. Hong Kong food writer Tsai Lan once claimed that the different tree age of black thorn durian is a rare thing that bring out the different flavor and taste. The Black thorn is the most delicious durian compared with the Musang King .

榴莲种植方法

虽然黑刺的老树不多,但是很多榴莲园主已开始用老树接枝技术栽种榴梿之王黑刺,市场上榴莲结果的最快纪录仅18个月。农业局计划也曾协助榴梿树园主耕种,通过现有的甘榜榴梿树将黑刺的幼苗接枝到老树上,由老树的根吸取养分供应幼苗,这种方式可以迅速让榴莲树在3年内开花结果。

Durian planting method

Although there are not many old trees for black thorns, many durian orchard owners have started to use old tree grafting techniques to plant Black thorn. The fastest record to have durian fruit takes only 18 months. The Agriculture Bureau also assisted durian orchard owners in planting, grafting Black thorn seedlings to old trees through the existing “durian kampung trees”, and absorbing nutrients from the roots of the old trees to supply the seedlings. This method can quickly have the new Black thorn trees to get durian fruits within 3 years.
